I am trying to decide on a new phone and online reviews only get you so far. Going to get to the store and handle them soon but comments from actually living people are always helpful.

Got myself a G5! What would you like to know? I’m digging the size a LOT! I had a nexus 6 before this, which was getting too slow and hot, with shitty battery life. The G5 has much better batterylife so far, charges really quickly, and USB C is pretty awesome. It does get warm from time to time, but never hot like the Nexus.

It’s fast, the camera is really great (manual mode FTW!), and google launcher makes it look like my old nexus. I’m happy with it so far. (2 weeks or so)

We like the bigger form factor phones so we’ve got the V10 and the Note Edge. They’re both fine and assuming the new mainstream devices are similarly updated they’ll both be fine. It's a personal preference thing...neither is objectively superior. Just go play around with both and take the one that fits you better.

I use an S5 but my friend just got an S7 and it’s pretty sweet. No removable battery but it feels good in the hand. Had an S4 before my S5. Great line of phones.

The two seem fairly similar on paper so I was curious if people had any negatives thoughts on anything particular. I am leaning toward the G5. Camera looks good, which is big for me. I also like the removable battery as a “just in case” kind of thing.

I saw they got rid of the separate “app drawer” and everything is sprawled out across the home screens. So I’d be looking to run the google launch as well I’m guessing.

Have you put a case on it? Other trick with the S7 is water proofing.

I haven’t put a case on yet. It looks great naked, so I’m hesitant. I’ll probably go with simple clear silicon case to keep the look.

Yeah the app drawer was a big thing for me. Plus, I just got really used to how everything looked on stock Android, so once I found out I could run the Google launcher and most things would look the same, it was an easy decision.

Best things for me are still the camera and the overall size.

The S7's water proof abilities are pretty cool, but how often are you going swimming with your phone, or using it in pouring rain?

G5 also is expandable with micro SD card slot. Is the S7?

Agreed, the waterproofing really means nothing to me. Just a luxury they included.

S7 does have Micro SD now. Although it is not as adaptable as in the G5. This probably won’t matter for most, and definitely not me though. Think I’ll end up with the G5 but will go handle both. Mainly to see if I find anything really annoying lol

LOL Good idea. One thing I like on the G5 over the S7 is the fingerprint scanner. I like that it’s circular and I don’t have to swipe over it to make it unlock, I can just put my finger on it.

Seems like S7 > G5. The HTC 10 NDAs fell today, so you might want to look at that as, well. Seems like a good phone.
